TRANSPORTATION

i. Arrival by train
International trains arrive at Gare de Luxembourg  (Luxembourg Central Station). From there, there are several routes to the Luxembourg City Youth Hostel (located at 2, Rue du Fort Olisy) by public transit.

The closest bus stop "Pfaffental/Vauban" is 300m from the Youth Hostel, which is reachable with Bus #23 that leaves from Gare de Luxembourg every 20 or 30 minutes.

Alternatively, one can take the train or tram (there is only one tram running every 10 minutes) from Gare de Luxembourg to the Gare de Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg/Rout Bréck (the train station at the Red Bridge), take the funicular and elevator down into the valley, and walk 850m (ca. 13 min) along Rue Saint Mathier/Vauban to the hostel.

ii. Arrival by plane
Arriving by air, you will land at Findel Airport (Aéroport Luxembourg/Findel) north-east of the City of Luxembourg. The simplest way to reach the Youth Hostel in Luxembourg City from the airport is to take Bus #6 or #16 to Gare de Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg/Rout Bréck, take the funicular and elevator down into the valley, and walk 850m (ca. 13 min) along Rue St Matthieu/Vauban to 2, rue du Fort Olisy, where the hostel is located.

iii. Public Transit
All public transport is free (trains, buses, tram and funicular). No ticket required. Just get on. Find scheduling information for at: www.mobiliteit.lu. We recommend downloading the App provided by Mobilitéitszentral. Masks are required on all public transport.

iv.  Disruptions of Service
Updates on disruptions, late, or cancelled trains, can be found on the homepage of the Luxembourg Railway (the CFL): http://www.cfl.lu/en/home or on twitter, @CFLinfos. Plan plenty of time for your trip.

v. Taxis
We do NOT recommend taxis as they are very expensive. But if you want one nevertheless, we recommend webtaxi.lu. Book online or call them at +352 27515. They are happy to confirm the price ahead of your journey. Uber does not operate in Luxembourg.

COVID-19
INURA 2022 will conform to all applicable covid measures. The organising team will be able to help you address any health concerns you may have during your visit. Currently (April 14, 2022), masks are required on all public transport and at all public health institutions.

Up-to-date sanitary measures applicable in Luxembourg can be found at (in FR, DE, EN): https://covid19.public.lu/en/sanitary-measures.html.

Updated travel restrictions across Europe can be found at: https://reopen.europa.eu/en/

WIFI and CONNECTING
WIFI is provided free of charge at the Youth Hostel.

In addition, the INURA Common Office will be providing a MaziZone (a closed-circuit, portable pocket data centre) where participants can share photos and comments of the conference.

PLACES TO SEE IN LUXEMBOURG & THE GRAND REGION
There is lots to discover in Luxembourg and the Grand Region. In addition to Luxembourg City, we encourage you to explore other areas of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg that are interesting from a urban planning and development perspective.

1. Belval, the site of ArcelorMittal steelworks (still in operation) and the University of Luxembourg. Becker, Hesse, Leick and Rafferty (in various combinations) have written about Belval, for example herehere or here. The following links can orient you:

2. Esch sur Alzette, the second largest city in the Grand Duchy. In 2022, Esch is the European Capital of Culture. These links can orient you:

3. Nordstad
In the north of the Grand Duchy, the five municipalities of Bettendorf, Diekirch, Erpeldingen/Sauer, Ettelbrück und Schieren are negotiating to fuse and form the Nordstad (North City) -- but this is a long time in the making. It is interesting to hike (or cycle) 5.6 km from Ettelbruck train station to Diekirch, and consider the various flagship projects, and ask: Is this really a city in the making? To orient: https://www.nordstad.lu/

4. Fare free public transit (FFPT)
Luxembourg garnered international fame when it announced that it's public transit would be fare-free beginning March 2020. We invite you to experience the system and evaluate for yourself the imagery and the reality of FFPT.  Try geocaching in the north, or visiting a beach in the south, or visiting any of the destinations outside of the City mentioned here. Carr and Hesse have written about this, here and here.

Here is a list of tourist destinations:
Völklinger Hütte (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Nancy & Place Stanislas (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
